Good to know. I was VERY seriously considering going ahead and getting the whole set, including controller, but then my current effects set-up found its way into my life.:D

finally got my lazy butt to actually take pictures of my pedals! here they are on a homemade pedalboard that used to be a serving tray. it fits perfectly inside a thrift store briefcase i found. my chain goes bass-->woolly mammoth-->keeley baked ts9dx-->rastop designs bass ring modulator-->boss dd-6-->amp

Is that the "bass" ring.mod. he makes? That sounded kinda cool. he and I did a quick email exchange in which he said the Ev filter and Super Divider were both optimized for guitar and were not that useful on bass in his opinion. He did say that he was working on a bass version of the Divider and that he had done a few custom orders of the filter, tweaking it for bass. Nice guy?

We've all done this b4 but what the heck eh? I promise that I will pull together a better shot of this set-up soon. In the mean time...

The Morgan Miller trip.loop bypass keeps this all clean and organized (!) The Akai Headrush is last in the chain; the only box in my chain always.
1st loop: Korg G5 for massive synth tones.
2nd loop: EBS oct> 'Tron III+> AC 'Tron III> DOD FX25> Chunk Fuzz> BASS IQ> Crowther P+C.
3rd loop: MXR Phase 90
I use a Voodoo labs power supply and a NGM pedal board. All cables are Monster, boxes and cables held in place with Velcro.
The Korg is the only bass synth worth using with it's nine preset locations, foot control of the sensitivty and massive tones; all other suck. :D
Re-issue 'Tron on HP fore non-muddy playing over samples.
DOD for deep dub ('natch.)
Chunk for blending the DOD with a bit o' fur. Will lose eventually for a Bass Angler..?
Bass IQ for it's synthy attack delay; think Slow Gear.
P+C for all fuzzy/OD tones.
MXR for fun. Guys, keep this box OUT of your signal chain unless you need it, honest. It will mess you up.
Akai for 24 sec. sampling. One line into the "active" input of F-1X, "wet" line into "passive" input so you can adjust the sample signal which is just too quiet if you just use a blended, mono signal; good tip!!
Heavy as heck but reliable. A bit much maybe but I use them all!! I like to be subtle most times hopefully avoiding any sort of "novelty" factor.

yup, that's the bass ring modulator he made for me. honestly, i think i the moogerfooger is the better ring mod. i agree with him that the env filter and octaver does not work so well on bass. i almost always leave those off. he's a nice guy though, and easy to work with. i like how compact it is and it's true bypass.

my current set-up:bass> BossLS2> amp.LS2 loop A:EHX octave multiplexer.LS2 loop B:Boss ODB3> Dunlop 105Q bass wah. I use the mode select for various settings. amp tuner out to Boss TU2. I must admit that lately I've been leaving the pedal board home and just going bass to amp,...and loving it. just raw power and pure tone. I seem to go thru phases with F\X...I like'm for a while, then I don't. I always seem to come back to a no F\X set-up. sometimes a good quality cable is the best effect I could ever ask for. F\X can be a very fun and creative tool though, I still leave the board set-up and ready to go for when I feel like getting whacky ;)

OK, so the latest configuration didn't last long. I spent a couple of hours today listening to various combinations and ended up with a new setup. The compressor goes back to the beginning of the chain, and most importantly the whole caboodle goes in front of the amp instead of in the effects loop where it used to be. I found that some of the pedals distort slightly when they are placed in the effects loop (higher levels I guess), and that the compressor is necessary before the amp to stop the amp's input from distorting from one or two of my B-strings. Now everything is cleaner and punchier.

I know many (you know who you are) have said that pedals go in front of the amp and rack effects go in the effects loop, but why should I listen to anyone? :rolleyes: :) You were right.

I think my new amp has a hotter signal level in the effects loop, there was no problem with distortion when I placed the effects in my combo's effects loop. Day after tomorrow is my next rehearsal, that will be fun as I now have even better sound. :)

Cool, another SE-70 user! I've had mine for about 8 years now!!!

It has recently went into semi-retirment, I treated myself to a Boss GT-6B (just couldn't see me saving up enough for a V-bass!)

I still use the SE-70 sometimes with my g**tars!:)

Mine is pretty simple, but I know it perfectly and can get really wacked sounds out of it, as well as a solid bass sound. It's also very portable, as I use the SanSamp as my main preamp.

I sold my Korg G5 a while ago, so I still have to get a good bass synth/enveloppe filter.
Probably an Akai DeepImpact if I can find one, or else a Digitech.

I sold it just because I was not satisfied with it anymore.
It has nice sounds and programs, but it eats way too much low end and hums.
More, I bought it 160 and sold it 200 6 months later.

I'm probably going to get the Digitech Bass Synth.
I tried it and was really amazed.
It looks like digitech did a great job on the whole line.
