and in the loop of the bypass box: Boss TU-2-->EH US Bassballs-->MXR Phase 90-->DOD DFX9 delay


once I get a better delay and maybe a Line6 FM4 I may make a few changes.

I'm not seeing many pedalboard postings here....just run-of-the-mill effects chains. How about some postings specific to this thread? What sort of cable and connectors did you use? What kind of power supply? Who made your board and how?? C'mon guys....

Well it ain't a pedal board, but here it is. The Roland RSP-550 is for choruses, flange, phaser and reverb. I use 7 different presets on it. The ADA MP-1 is for OD and distortion and I use 5 different presets on it. I use them individually and together. The Pe***y MIDI Pro switches the MP-1 in and out of the Trace's fx loop with relays (read that hard-wired bypass!). I can't draw a diagram so I'll explain the wiring as best I can.

Bass>Trace pre>Qsc amp. Simple and unfettered.

The fx are:
fx loop 1 send>midi pro>MP-1 in. MP-1 out>midi pro>fx loop 1 return.

fx loop 2 send>RSP-550 in. RSP-550 out>fx loop 2 returns (stereo).

fx loop 1 is an insert type loop and fx loop 2 is a parallel type like you would find on a mixing console.

I just scored a PLX 3002 for myself but am able to clip it with my subharmonic low stuff. Enough headroom for you Ineal? Sure do like the amp tho'...what's your experiance?

I know, I know! Does the midi controller count??

I love that amp. I never run it out of power, but then I don't have the extreme subharmonic content that you use. It beats the hell out of the old boat anchor QSC 1700 I used to use!

Here's a pic of my old pedal board. I built it myself. I went to midi because I got tired of the "footswitch dance". With the setup I'm using now, I only have to hit one switch for the fx that i need.

Note: all that wire on the left is the cable that plugs into my bass, piled up in one spot. No it wasn't that sloppy!

(I do understand the K.I.S.S. theory-and mine is as simple as can be, really.)

My current setup is dead quiet thanks to the hard wire bypass on everything. My bass plugs straight into the pre; no hurdles to jump. The Roland is quiet even unbypassed. The ADA is a noisy rascal, but that is why I have the midiswitcher-to completely remove it from the loop when not in use. It sure does get some good distortion & OD on the bass!

I spent a lot of time thinking it all out and collecting the pieces and it does exactly what I want and need it to do.

Now that old pedal board, it was great but it was confusing sometimes in the heat of the moment trying to get my foot on the right thing. Then, if I really got into a solo I would have to rush to turn them all off and I'd sometimes forget what I had turned on! Duh! The new setup has 1 footswitch (the one marked "0" on the controller) preset on each bank for a "global" bypass which puts everything in bypass mode. If I forget, I can just hit it when I'm done and there you go! Buttah!

Ok, I finally got Visio installed on my PC so I could do the diagram (as the physical layout may not make much sense if you just look at the picture).

ok, now here's the actual pedalboard and layout.

I use an MKS MPS PedalPad (Invalid Link Removed)

The usual chain, 90% of the time is Bass -> LS-2 -> TU-2 -> MultiComp -> SwitchBox -> ChoralFlange -> Preamp

The switchbox let's me choose to use Loop A and / or Loop B.

Loop A is OctaBass -> BassDrive -> VWah. This loop is laid out kind of back to front on the pedalboard, as I have the VWah on the far side of the board to make best use of space.

Loop B is Fuzz -> BassIQ -> Bassballs.

As the switchbox let's you use both loops in sequence, I have the choice of ODrive -> Wah (loop a only) or Wah->Fuzz (A + B)

as well as the built in MPS power supply, I have a strip under the top tier and have a switchmode universal power supply (used for bassballs and fulltone power) and fulltone power supply (for choralflange).

Connector cables are 100% George L kit.

Great shots and info! that's almost as complicated as mine! Where's the Korg G5 in your pictures? Have you tried connecting a footpedal to the "FC in" jack? This is one of the things that truly sets this box apart IMO; you can control the sensitivity this way which is way cooler than just sweeping the envelope IMO.
How do you like that Lo-Tone? I am always wondering about those...tre' cool lookin'.

I do really like it, but I used to use it more prior to getting the bassdrive. Like most of us, I've tried just about every frickin' od pedal out there. After going through Boss (yuk), Ibanez PD7 (good for the price) , Budda, EBS, BJF and Angler the Fulltone is the one I'm happiest with. It can do a nice mild od, then use the boost channel to do a much heavier distortion when needed. These days I tend to use the lo-tone in conjunction with the bassballs, as the distortion on the bassballs is pretty bad. Using it with the lo-tone helps to keep the sound less trebly.

but I like the 'Tom Morello' idea of doing a lot with a little.

I just put this together over the weekend, since I'm answering a lot of ads and need to have a convenient way to put it together with little hassle. It all fits into a $19.95 briefcase from Staples!

EDIT I just figured out that the pedals are reversed from what they should be! all the outputs are on the wrong side! So it should go (left to right), Zoom, Grunge, synth/wah. Sorry for any confusion, including mine!

CNB Pedalboard case (49 bucks from sam ash, it's not super sturdy but it works)

note: pedals and tuner powered by 1-spot, with exception of V-twin, which has own power supply.

(also note: v-twin may not be the ultimate winner there in the od/dist/fuzz category, it's just the latest one i'm trying out.)
