I've threatened my worship band with a set of those...

hmm.. *LOL* it would be great for the songs that the bass just drones on 2-3 chords.. and I can then play other stuff through my EHX Bass MicroSynth... oooh...

if you are doing anything other than the droning? yeah def. sit down... organists have a whple slew of them (our church organ has a full4 octaves at the feet), and if you do anything beyond a drone, you have to use more than one foot and therefore, must be seated...

yeah.. a good organist makes a good drummer look silly...

I have a special fondness for Crumar. My first synth was a Crumar DS-2, and I loved it to pieces. I can actually sit around telling stories about that keyboard- not many people can say that about an electronic instrument. I bet the pedals sound cool. :)

The Roland PK5 pedals that I posted have a couple useful modes like the hold mode which lets you hit the pedal once but continues to hold the note until you hit another pedal so you dont have to constantly be stepping on one note and can move around a bit easier. I havent recieved the brain (Nord Electro) unit I plan to control it with yet though so Im not sur eIll be able to pull off the balancing act either. :)

bongo: I've heard lots of great things about Crumar. My lead guitarist used to own one of their boards and loved it. The CPB-2 is a pretty decent sounding unit. The filter section is VERY useful and tweakable. The only real problem is tuning. Like many analog synths from the 70s, tuning is tentative at best. My dad really scored with these -- he bought them at a garage sale for $20.00!

Nick: I've been hoping to get my hands on the Roland PK5 for ages now. Those are amazing pedals. Loads of great features. I keep hoping I'll find a set used here in town, then every time I do, I just don't have the funds. Ah, the eternal trial (heh heh). I'd love to MIDI a set up to some older 80s Korg rackmount synths, like perhaps the EX8000. At least with this kind of MIDI setup, tuning would never be an issue again.

Phyrexian: You really should post your amp rig in the "Amps" section. That looks like a a stellar setup!

Thanks for the compliments on my board guys. Honestly, the comments about having too many gain pedals is what led me to preface my post by saying I am changing my board around currently. I simply don't want to give up that real-estate when I find I'm only using 2 gain pedals as opposed to 4.

@toasted - Not sure where you got "9" flavors of gain from? (Maybe you're counting the 2 channels on the various pedals?)
I never use the distortion on the MXR, so as of right now I use 4 pedals - depth charge, fulltone, and both HBE pedals.

Don't get me wrong, I love overdrive & distortion and it's the primary "effect" so-to-speak that I use live. I just enjoy not having to swap out the pedals like I used to do on my smaller board before I had the pedalpad. Everything is right at my feet from gig to gig. :bassist:

Looks like the big AKG kick drum mic (forgot the actual name), and probably a Sure sm-57. I used both those mics for recording an Ampeg classic 8x10 and it was my favorite studio tone to date. If only I'd had an all tube head... *sigh*
I love the gold and white on your p-bass, super clean looking!
