You are in luck scotch - the rack unit I made is at home out of my rack sitting on top of some of my practice junk.
Bass to board, XLR from rack unit to board - done. The 1/4 from the rack unit to the preamp is normally just a 6" cable that is always connected when in the rack.
Edit: BTW - The power/distribution could just as easily be built into a standard size effect box you can chuck behind your amp. I just wanted extra AC outlets for my other rack gear. It doesn't really have to be rack-sized.
