Post your Walnut Bass!

What do you all feel are the tonal characteristics of walnut, if you were to compare to more standard woods like ash and alder?

Or just your interpretation of the wood from an overall tonal perspective?

I must admit I chose mine based on asthetics primarily.

However, I like the weight of my Carvin kit bass. I like that there is a sharpness to the wood that my alder Jazz doesn't have nor my mahogany Warmoth. There is a snap and punchiness that I get, but I can still get low and boomy if I need too. It is just easier to dial in that snap. I like the clarity I get too. I definitely wouldn't call my walnut Carvin a warm bass.

Yes , I had to do it on that neck , it didn't have any dots at all and I was lost . I bet it's even easier to drill out an existing dot . I really do like it , it functions just fine in daylight , it glows bright for about 5 min then dims for about 20 and very faintly (which is just better than nothing at all ) for several hours . I forget what it costs , like 25 bucks or so ? I'm not going to go and drill out all my current instruments but yeah I would do it again when needed .
