A sampler is more like a delay with an infinite loop. Perhaps the Bass Micro Synth is what you're looking for? Although I have no experience with it, perhaps someone else here can help you out. Are there any specific parts/songs you are looking for?
I, for one, would like to know how to get the "Mario coin" sound in Nothing Better.
Benjamin Gibbard is such a fantasic song writer. Seriously, for me its:
-Elliott Smith
-Ben Gibbard
-Tom Yorke
Sentaments and all to Waits', Dylan's, Lennon's, McCartney's, and Simon's of the world, but as far as the making of modern music, the best all round song writers for me are these three. And Gibbard is by far the most versital and accesable of them.
Give Up is a fantasic album. I'd love to get my hands on some of that equipment and lock myself in my basement for two weeks to see what happens. I'll definatly keep up with this.

Bjazzman, PM me... I know some people at Sub Pop who may be able to help answer your question.
If you find the answer from them is it illegal to post it here? If it is can you pm me with it?

I don't know, Sub Pop might tell him not to publically post it.
I really like his Death Cab For Cutie stuff too. (Postal Service acutally is a side project believe it or not) Up until recently I had only hear Death Cab's newest stuff but I got their old stuff and I like that even more.
I could not agree more. you sir, have impeccable taste![]()
