postal service synths?

i know but i did a google search and nothing came up. i was hoping to get some good at least keyboard bass sounds from their record. maybe i need a sampler? are there samplers out there that if you put in a cd or import the tune you can pick out the bass or whatever and just use that? im sure that's exactly what a sampler is but im not sure
A sampler is more like a delay with an infinite loop. Perhaps the Bass Micro Synth is what you're looking for? Although I have no experience with it, perhaps someone else here can help you out. Are there any specific parts/songs you are looking for?

can you "steal" those kinds of sounds with one of those korg mpc samplers or something like that?

Benjamin Gibbard is such a fantasic song writer. Seriously, for me its:
-Elliott Smith
-Ben Gibbard
-Tom Yorke
Sentaments and all to Waits', Dylan's, Lennon's, McCartney's, and Simon's of the world, but as far as the making of modern music, the best all round song writers for me are these three. And Gibbard is by far the most versital and accesable of them.
Give Up is a fantasic album. I'd love to get my hands on some of that equipment and lock myself in my basement for two weeks to see what happens. I'll definatly keep up with this.

I really like his Death Cab For Cutie stuff too. (Postal Service acutally is a side project believe it or not) Up until recently I had only hear Death Cab's newest stuff but I got their old stuff and I like that even more.

Yeah, I love Death Cab too. Between Death Cab, Postal Service, and his really old solo stuff (basement tapes that are pretty hard to find), I think Ben Gibbard is the most versital songwriter in the past two decades. It always sounds like Ben, but it can be Ben through any number of eye's and viewpoints.
