Pot issue

So I picked up a new toy this past week. 75 Jazz RI made in '86. Wasn't able to plug her into my rig until the gig last night because there's no way I'm hauling my rig up the stairs in my apartment. Anyway, as i'm noodling around with her and falling in love with tone I noticed an issue. The neck pickup won't shut completely off. It's stuck at about 4 o'clock from 0 to about 7 (if that makes any sense to you. it does in my head) then it's a sudden volume increase. I haven't popped the control plate off yet but was wondering if this would be as simple as a soldering issue or do you think the pot will need to be replaced?

Thanks for any help at all!

Well I thought this thread was something entirely different all together, but as long as I'm here I could help...

Use some air dusters, contact cleaner, and all that fun stuff to clean up the pot, and if it still doesn't work just buy a new one.
