Pot replacement question

Yeah that'd be a real bummer, and there's not much of a way to make sure that wouldnt happen before buying the pot right? :(

Tell you what, send an e-mail to Best Bass Gear with the picture of your blend pot and ask them. They might be able to tell you if the standard blend would fit or they might know where you could get the type you need. It couldn't hurt to ask and they are nice guys.

Unfortunately I have not seen a blend pot like that and I'm thinking your best bet is to wire a normal blend into that circuitry. I wish I could be of more help, but it seems like that is the only solution I can think of.

Alpha makes one:

You might have to investigate further and take some measurements to see exactly which one you'll need, but those are all vertical PC-mounted dual-ganged pots.

The lugs on his pot go toward the shaft.

It's actually 3RP/1610G-XC3A250KC where X is the shaft code.

He'll have to measure the shaft on his pot to see how long it needs to be.

No problem. I came across those today during my elusive search for a 500k/500k concentric pot (really effing common, mind you) that has straight pins instead of solder lug/holes on the terminals (also really effing common, but not on a concentric).

The closest I've found is from Alpha, but the bottom shaft only has a 120-degree rotation (***?) and is, in essence, completely pointless for any of my uses.

So you need a 500K/500K stacked pot with pins perpendicular to the shaft with close to 360 degree rotation on each shaft?
 
Update! I ordered one of the non-circuit board designed pots before you guys posted that :/ so i went ahead and did my ghetto rig:

and it works well, sounds good and the pot functions as expected. took me a good hour to make all of the jumpers but the pot was pretty cheap and it was worth it.

I came across this thread because I am having the exact same issue that was described here with the blend pot on my Cobra. Just as an FYI to anyone who finds themselves with a similar problem and reading this thread, I wrote to Alpha Products (the potentiometer manufacturer who was listed above). They have the exact potentiometer that's needed (3RP/1610G- 4C3A250KC). However, they consider it a made-to-order item and will only allow orders of at least 1,000 pieces.

At this time I am still looking for a drop in replacement, but I think a modification like Nooblett ended up doing is seeming more and more likely. If I do find a drop-in, I'll be sure to update this thread for future reference.
