Potential Darkstar Project

I've been wanting to buy into the Darkstar hype and build a bass around a pickup- Yes, build a whole bass around a pickup... Haven't been able to decide until now after I was kinda inspired by the thread about Juan from The Mars Volta. A Jazz with a single DS. Here is a quickie photoshop of his bass, my apologies to all you other photoshoppers out there, just wanted to get a quick idea of the look:

I may even go with black/tortoise, but was thinking of sonic blue/mint green PG. What do you all think?

Are you opposed to going with a P body? The jazz looks cool but a little 'odd' to me with a single pickup. The P would look great with that though. Black with a tort guard and rosewood. Would be a beauty!

Well I had the P in mind originally but it's done so often. I was very happy with the looks of the Jazz with a single pickup. I didn't expect to love it because I'm a jazz bass guy and so used to 2 pickups

I know is kindda vague but, how do you guys think the DS sounds better, in the P position or in the J position? just want a quick opinion, not trying to hijack the tread
Well, I think it sounds great in the P position myself, of course. But which J position, though? The soundclips of the Lakland Decade will give you an idea of how they sound in an approximate J bridge position, and way up at the neck:
