There is a miriad of power amps out there. Most of which are formulated and set up for PA's. What about Bass Power Amps? Is there a difference? WHat is the difference, if any? I am working on a new system and I am going for something in the 1000 watt range at 2Ohms. Any and all input would be great.

Well, it's unlikely that you'll find a stereo power amp that will bridge into 2 ohms (as each channel would see a 1 ohm load).

Would you be running more than one 4 ohm cabinet? You could run a stereo amp in the dual mono mode and have each cabinet connected to its own channel.

There are so many top quality Pro Sound power amps out there (I have a QSC PLX2402) that I wouldn't consider a power amp from a bass amp manufacturer...

My thoughts: there's little if any difference between the two. I'd prefer the PA poweramps just because they'll USUALLY give you better hookup options and some filters and the like.

I use the Mackie m1400i and it's amazing. It's heavy but I feel I can get a deeper tone with it than with anything else. It's 1400 watts bridged mono to 4 ohms (I think) and 550 watts per side at 4 ohms stereo. Stewarts are light and efficient and also pretty nice.
