Power amp - Setup Question

Sounds like you are describing what I was looking for. I needed to have different settings for my fretted and fretless which, in addition to needing different tone settings, also had different output levels. I picked up an ADA MB-1, which is a completely analog programmable pre-amp. It has tube and solid state pre amps that can be used individually or combined, compressor, 5 band quasi semi-parametric eq, chorus and MIDI programmability with 256 preset locations. The signal chain is completely analog. I use a remote MIDI pedal to change programs. ADA is out of business and it's been 10 years or so since the MB-1 has been in production, but there are a bunch out there still. It is a lot easier using the MB-1 than it was for me before with AB switching, different pedals, etc.
How about Pearce BC-1? 2 completely independent channels in a 2 rack space. I have 2 of them and love'em. They pop up every now and then. I use channel 1 for my MM Sterling,and channel 2 for a fretless Kubicki. Just the ticket.
The Pearce can give a reasonable tube feel as well. I used to have a few Pearces as well and used them that way. If the OP is set on having tubes, then the Pearce is not a good option.
