So I just bought a Crown XLS 402 and i'm trying to hook everything up right and get the most power. The cab is 8 ohms 400 watts, only have the one cab, and am running my VT Bass as the preamp. kinda clueless when it comes to power amps so was wondering which mode i should run the power amp in and what connectors i'd need and such, thoughts, suggestions or advice much appreciated, thanks guys

Power Amp to Cab Question

Could you post the specs on that Crown as far as wattage it puts out at 4 or 8 ohms, bridged or two-channel (stereo)? Also, does the Crown have balanced or unbalanced inputs (it will say in the manual)? Also if you can find the input sensitivity rating in the specs, that can be useful info. For speaker outputs what types of connector does it have; and what type(s) of connector are on the speaker cab?
You have 300W/chanel @8Ohm or 900W/bridged @8Ohm.
If you use bridged be careful with the power you give your 400W cab.
In dual stereo use a regular speakon cable.
In bridged you need to have a speakon cable where 1+ and 2+ is connected on the amp side.

It has speakon and the red things i'm not sure about for outputs, I bought it with a little connector for the output, puts the two prongs that go into the small red inputs, middle ones for bridged or bottom two or top two for stereo into one and converts it into a stereo 1/4 inch cable output, so that's connected to my cab, which only has 2 1/4 inch inputs. The guy had XLR to 1/4 inch converters for the inputs but i didn't pick them up thinking I had an XLR to 1/4 inch, but I had the female to 1/4 inch so i need the converter, or can I buy a male XLR to 1/4 inch? and that would be fine going to my VT pedal?

The VT pedal's output is unbalanced. You need to confirm for a fact whether that specific power amp will be driven well at a relatively low input sensitivity rating when fed an unbalanced signal.
