Okay, go ahead and laugh.
The whole reason I built my Bombasstick was to be able to practice without power, and switching from cheapie ebay strings to 1/2 size Corellis helped a lot with the sound quality, but not necessarily the quantity. On a lark, I tried out something silly, and a bit Steampunk I guess, but dang... it works really well...
This flange end of a bicycle horn, simply inserted into a .5" hole in some .25" stock and clamped to the head, transmits the good vibrations directly toward your ear when standing astride the bass, giving it a rounder, more sustained sound (as long as it is aimed toward your ear).
Visual absurdity is keeping me from simply putting a .5" hole into the head, but I may go there yet... For now, the clamp works well enough for me to give it a sustained test ride.
