Power Supply for Tascam DP-008

I bought the 2-piece Tascam power supply when I bought my DP-008 and I'd like something with less "bulk" and all that extra cable, especially the two piece design. Can I just get a generic power supply with the same voltage? If so, does anyone have one they recommend?

Yes, you can use just about any 5v DC wall wart or other 5v DC power supply as long as it has the proper tip. There should be a illustration next to the power jack that shows either a negative or positive tip. In the photos I saw, it was a 5v DC with positive tip. Best to check your model to see if it's the same.

Thanks. I guess I get nervous getting something that's not the Tascam brand (stupid, I know).

I just want to clean up my cables a little bit so I was looking to get away from the two part cord and all the extra cable. Is there any reason not to go with the new one?

It's not just the tip and the voltage. He has to make sure that it delivers enough current (ampere or milliampere)! If for example the Tascam needs 1000 but the power supply only delivers 200, our planet could explode.
