power supply problems

hey guys, i have concluded that i need a new power supply for my board seeing as i had an incredible hum at a gig i played last night. my board consists of these pedals:

old marshall guv'nor
boss OC-3
mxr blow torch (18v req)
ibanez de-7 delay
radial tonebone bassbaone (with big muff in the effects loop
fender tuner

any suggestions as to what i can use that wont cost me an arm or leg? i looked at the godlyke power all but it cant do 18v?

i thought it could with an adaptor lead.

I've got a diago which is great

The Bassbone is going to be the biggest problem to power. It counts out all of the major power supplies except those with isolated outputs... and those power supplies aren't cheap.

The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus (around $140 - $180) has 8 outputs, and with the appropriate Y-cables, two outputs can be combined to produce 18VDC or 24VDC.

And then there's the adjustable "sag" outputs... it's possible to adjust them so that they can deliver 15V when combined with a Y-cable. It's been discussed before here on TB, but I don't think anyone's attempted it.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, but adjusting it to the proper voltage will be a challenge, especially since you don't want to use your Bassbone as the "test probe" - some oddly sensitive pedals, like the MXR Blowtorch, can be fried by too little voltage from a non-battery power supply.

I cooked a Blowtorch once that way; I used a 1 Spot (9VDC) and the pedal burned on the inside. Ridiculous, but it happened... and it's happened to others, too. You never know if the Bassbone might be like that.

On a side note... the Godlyke Power Pump + either the 1 Spot or Godlyke Powerall will work to power a Blowtorch and your four 9VDC pedals, as will a Dunlop DC Brick.

Using a DMM to adjust each output to 7.5V then combining the thing... possible?

I have more powering problems than this guy, 9VDC and 12VAC don't seem to like each other much...

That's the idea, yeah. The sag outputs can be adjusted between 4VDC and 9VDC.

Nothing on the market will power the Muff'n besides its own wall wart... you're on your own for that one!

DAMN. Doesn't the VoodooLabs Pedal Power AC do 12VAC (or is the current too low?)

The 12VAC outputs on it provide 1200mA - more than sufficient. But you still have two problems:

1) You'd have to make your own custom cable to use, since the Muff'n jack is proprietary.

2) You wouldn't have any use for the rest of the power supply... it ends up being more wasteful than just sticking to the original wall wart.

Anyone out there winding custom power supplies? (will that work?)

Here's one I've found that could do what you're looking for: The PedalGear JuiceBox. But again, you'd need to be able to make / have custom-made the proprietary cable replacement.
