power supply question

You can use special Y-cables (available from Voodoo Labs) that combine two outputs for double the voltage. So for example with the PPII you could combine two 12V outputs for the 24V, and two 9V outputs for the 18V. And you still have a couple 9V's left over.

The only hassle is ensuring that it allows enough current draw, in addition to the voltage.

Awesome! Thank you for that solution to my dilemma, fellow PDXr

:hugs:

But... does that mean there's NOT a power supply with a pre-set 24v?

I'm looking to power up to eight pedals and it'd be rad if I didn't have to use a one spot in addition to the multi due to all the coupling required.

I think we need to know what you are putting together to find the right solution for you.

AFAIK there isn't a setup with a dedicated 24, just different ways of piling up 12's. There is probably a supply to fit your needs if we know what those needs are.

You can do that with a PPII+.

BMS on 1 and 2 (dip set for 12V), SFT on 7 and 8 (Dip set to no sag), Chorus on 3 (dip set to 12V), and the 9V on daisy chains on 4, 5, and 6. Unless you have a ridiculous draw on one or more of your 9V pedals (over 250 mA for output 5 and 6), or unless you have some 9V that have some kind of serious noise issue with being daisy chained, it should work great. Even if you are running 10 or so 9V pedals, you should be able to arrange them so they wont overdraw your PPII+

There are others that are capable of this, but I am not as intimately familiar with these.

One thing to be careful of is the BMS needs a reverse polarity series cable, and the SFT will need a standard polarity series cable.

this guy also seems like it might work

Thanks for your help guys! ;)

I've been looking at power supplies a lot lately too. The trouble I'm having is finding one that supplied a few 9v, two 12v and enough current to power my two TC Nova pedals - one is 12v 300ma, the other is 12v 380ma. There's not a lot out there that can do this. Inc the Voodoo, Fuel Tank etc. So before plumbing for any mentioned PSU here, check the current consumption of your pedals.

The gigrig modular power supply system seems to be the answer to everyone's prayers

The cool thing with this system is they do add on voltage adapters that seem to cover every need. There's even a 24v one there too:

This is the solution that I am likely to go down. In fact, I'm prob just going to get a couple of those 12v adapters to use with my existing PSU which Daniel at gigrig has advised should work fine. Much cheaper than buying a whole new power brick.

So if you already have a 9v brick or daisy chain that can supply enough current, these little adapters may be all you need
