Has there ever been a reasonably priced powered bass cab solution?

I know there are some high end options and GK does their proprietary set up but I was just wondering about a simple active bass cab with a decent power rating to run with a BDDI or other simple preamp.

I love my current amps and cabs but I already have plenty of decent preamp options on my pedal board so it would be cool to just lug 1 or 2 powered cabs to shows.

Hi.

Sure, there's plenty of options.

What is reasonable, is entirely up to You though.

The runt of the litter EV and RCF active PA cabs for example are very intriguing, at least price-wise, no personal experience about neither one in action.

It would help to narrow the selection a bit with some additional information though.
The price range and the foot print (+ the weight) are usually the deciding factors in mid-priced active cabs.

All good points. I guess I just wanted to limit it to bass cabs but it could really be any active speaker.

I was thinking of 1 or 2 cabs sized somewhere between a 1x15 and 4x10. If it was a PA cab then a tweeter pad would be ideal.

I guess I was hoping for something like a TL606 with a plate amp in it.

I play mostly metal and various forms of hard rock and have been favoring Sansamp style rock tones as of late.

I guess I consider reasonable less than $500 or so. I know a bigger budget could get me almost anything.

Hi.

I guess I consider reasonable less than $500 or so.

A DIY mating of a used TL606 and a new plate amp should fit very well in that budget.

Would be one heavy mutha though.

This is the EV I was talking about: Invalid Link Removed

Looks very good on paper and on the reviews, but like I said earlier, no personal experience.
