Powering original Mutron III in Europe

How do you power yours? I bought my for 600$ I guess 2 years ago and I rarely use it since then, as I don't have power supply for it. Mine eats batteries pretty fast. I've heard about a possibility to mod it with boss type power supply, gave it to my friend who makes pedals and he said that the pedal might not work at all with that type of mod :)

I haven't had an original in my hands, so what kind of batteries does it run on? 2 9 volts by chance? I assume it's a bipolar power supply.

It's totally possible to run it from a DC power supply, but it requires something a little more clever than just plugging it in. You would need to have it modified with a charge pump circuit to supply the negative voltage.

Ok, so your buddy who builds pedals should have some idea of what a charge pump is, if not a quick Google will find him a nice MAX1044 schem which can easily derive -9v from your Boss power supply.
