I have a Fender Bassman 25 - one of the "kick back" shaped ones from ~20 years back.
I find it to be the best sounding amp I've ever heard at any volume. Clear, punchy, great signal/noise ratio, exceptional loudness without huge volume (with the volume knob set to 1!!). Not a drive-tone amp at all, but seems to give back MORE than what you put in somehow. Doesn't clip at all. There seems to be a built-in limiter that doesn't engage until you push it past 4 or so, and by then the neighbors 2 floors up are paying you a visit for the noise. It is all but impossible to get a bad sound out of this amp.
This needs to be turned into a plug-in, but I don't know how. I have a lot of bass plug-ins, from a REDDI knockoff to all of the Helix stuff and many more. (Maybe I will work on a Practice Amp preset for the Helix...)
Maybe one of you knows of an existing plug-in that does this already?
