Pranks at work!

Another lifeguarding story. We patrol the beach at night and you always come across people humping underneath blankets. Well our beach closes at 10PM. So we routinely have to kick people off the beach after this time. Especially right around 1-2am when people start drifting from the bars on Main st. So when we see a blanked moving mysteriously we approach from the water side, because the sound of the surf masks the engine noise and then we creep up on them...

BLAMO!!!!!!

Spotlights are on and we give a quick squelch from our siren... People can't see crap and they're half naked and running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Bumping into each other. Tripping over the blanket with their pants around their ankles. Hilarious.

This did backfire once when we came across a couple of gay guys.

I havn't laughed so hard in a while...

AWESOME!!!

i haven't done any good work pranks yet, but my brother has.

one of his coworkers went out for eye surgery, so the week he was gone everyone in the office cut out pictures of eyeballs and taped them to everyting in his cubicle. including:

on the phone reciever
bottom of coffee cup
inside coffee cup
under mouse
under chair
alllll over his cork-board
everywhere in desk
between post-it notes
hmmm... where else...

everywhere that space was available, there was an eyeball. haha

Maki - how can you claim (separately) not to have a marketable edge on gut-splitting humor? (edit - seriously appreciative nods to Jive1 separately also.) :)

Only workplace story I can think of, as a geek, is an engineer who was deathly afraid of spiders. Smartest guy I knew at that company, but his paranoia was legendary. A coworker and I littered his office and desk with a few plastic spiders left over from halloween one day. He walks into his office to start his day, turns on the light, and exclaims "Oh SH#T!!" and starts smashing plastic spiders with his briefcase and then runs out the door. I couldn't work for the rest of the day.

Ok one more. Not really a prank but funny. Lifeguarding dirty little secret. Pee cups. That's what we call the leftover super-big gulp cups, or er... "modified" water bottles that we use when we have to pee in the towers. Many funny antics surrounding the pee cups. Most guards will fill one and dump it right behind their tower (word of advice don't step in the wet sand behind the lifeguard tower) when it's clear. Some guys for some reason will sit with it in their tower. This is very common amoung the rookies, who get a little shy about dumping their pee cups. So when we're swinging by to pick them up for a ride back to HQ, they'll dump their cup/s right before getting in the truck.

Well one rookie last summer was doing this. I'm pulling up to pick him up and we see him with his back pack on his back. His fins and cooler in his other hand and his pee cup in his other hand. He's on the edge of his deck at the front of his tower when he sees up. So he promptly jumps off his deck while still holding his pee cup which proceeds to slosh and splash all over him upon his impact with the sand below. He was drenched. Mortified he starts stick figuring toward the truck with his hands and legs all stiff and wet. Myself and all the other guards in truck are laughing their asses off. I promptly roll up the windows, lock the doors, and drive away to a safe distance. He was trying to get in the truck but we were having none of it. It was at this time that I informed him via our PA that he needs to run back. It was a 3 mile run. Soft sand. Poor rookie. :D

One day, at a Silicon Valley company, there were rumors of a rattle snake in the parking lot. (believable, given the location) As my friend was looking for the snake, I sneaked up on him with an IC tube, with about six ICs in it. I shook the IC tube, producing a fine rattle, then smacked him in the leg with it. He jumped pretty high.
