I hate that the finish on my Fender will never wear like this.

Did the clear coat wear off on the whole upper part?

Yeah. It's still intact on the back. It wore off in layers giving it a nice look. Crazy checking on the back with the white base coat showing no thanks to buckle rash. This thing has been played.

Yeah, nice to see the original color coming through, I read somewhere its the clear coat that yellowed, turning blue into green, white into yellow, etc.

Here's my '59. At least that's what I call it. Body date is 12/58, neck is 2/59 as I recall. Had to be one of the last 2 tone burst/ gold anodized guards made.

Man, this one is just unreal. What a beauty!

OK, I am in - here's my 1959 maple neck. I've had it in my possession since around 1968. When I got it (as a young teen) it had already been badly refinished. I had it refinished a few years ago to Olympic White and bought a new bronze pickguard. View attachment 323189I still have the original but it is badly beat up.

This week I missed out on a 1965 Jazz bass (white refin w/ matching headstock, logo removed, otherwise all original electronics/hardware) on my local Ebay for $1100 Buy It Now!

I'm STEAMING I didn't score this one...hopefully it went to a good player. Wonder if anyone on the TB scored it...
