Preamp / DI for recording and live

Hello folks.
I have some recording coming up in a few weeks.
I'm already getting a nice and dirty sound from my Peavey T.B.Raxx, but I also want a really nice clean sound.

I've looked into some DI Boxes and have found these two that I really like and that are in my price range:

Markbass Super Booster
Eden WTDI

Do you have any more ideas on this?
I don't really need an equalizer or a compressor, but it could be nice... you know.. just in case

My favorite recording tone has been Sansamp VT to Avalon U5 and let the engineer handle the compression.

Eden WTDI is the best for the money. I get the best sound running it through the effects return on my amp. I didn't think I needed a compressor but, the comp on this box is very useful.

Tech 21 SansAmp I think is great. It has a nice sound, but not overly colored. You can dial the tube effect all the way back for recording so you can use modeling in the recording software. Plus, it can give some very nice distortion.

I recently got a Sansamp RPM and LOVE IT. I gigged with it shortly after I got it and it sounded fantastic. It has sweepable mids so I can choose which ones to focus on, which for me, is great. Got a good price on it too and it was well worth it.

Seymour Duncan Paranormal SFX-06 delivers you a basic EQ (3 bands) and one great slap contour button. It's clean and transparent, not colouring. Nice DI and preamp for my passive bass.

A nice recording channel like an UA LA-610, UA 6176, Avalon, Millenia, Focusrite, Neve (except the sylver line) will be stellar for both recording and live.

Indeed. Between those recommendations, it comes down to how you want to shape your sound. The best way is to try all of them, but if not possible, youtoob and Harmony Central (user reviews) can be of good help. Listening to bassists who use those units is also a good way to figure things out.

As for me, I'm a die-hard SansAmp fan and I use a PBDDI. I also keep a Paradriver nearby.

I agree, and am also a Sansamp fan, used a VT, using a BDDI.
Reviews and that are handy, and can point you in the right direction, but nothing beats trying these things before buying, i've spent alot of money chasing tone . LOL...
