Preamp hookup into an eleven rack

Hey there everyone,

So here is my situation - I love the seamless recording of the amp and cab simulation from my eleven rack modeler. I have a really tasty alembic f-1x preamp that I want to use as the beginning of my chain into the cab sim of the eleven rack. Only problem is I don't quite know the best way to connect it -

- the eleven rack has a line input, xlr mic input, and an fx loop

- the alembic has a full range output (to go into a power amp for live use), an fx loop, and a DI out.

My question is, would using the alembic's full range output into the eleven rack's line input be a BAD idea? My gut tells me this signal could be potentially damaging to the line input because it was designed to run into a power amp, but I could be wrong. I tried the fx loop (which bypassed the alembic onboard tone shaping, no good), and the DI into the eleven rack (which introduces a seperate mic preamp within the eleven rack, and with it a bit of noise), so I am hoping maybe the full range output of the alembic could be of use.

Any thoughts would be seriously appreciated.

Have you tried running the Alembic in the FX loop of the Eleven Rack?

You can run the Eleven into the loop of the Alembic without bypassing the tone stack. Your signal will appear at the full range output and the D.I. The Alembic will see the Eleven as a guitar pedal. Use the full range output to the desk - I assume you have a D.I. laying around or use the Alembic D.I. out which would be the best option.

The full range output of the alembic pre is a line signal. So connecting it to the line input of the eleven is the way to go.
You're not going to damage anything by doing this, the signal sent to a power amp is also a line level signal. Usually a +4dBu.

Set the eleven line input to match the output of the FX-1, I'm guessing it is +4dBu, but if the signal seems low and the volume is at max. Then set the eleven's line input to the the -10dBv setting.
Or if the setting of the eleven is +4dBu and the sound is distorted then lower the volume of the FX-1.
