Preamp opinions!!

Ok guys so i am going to be ordering a douglas bass off of rondo for a project 5 string bass. My first step will be adding a preamp to the bass but since i have been a passive bassist for as long as i can remember i would like a few opinions on what preamps to consider. If you guys could just reply with your what aftermarket preamps you guys have and any sound characteristics they have. I am looking for a pretty universal kinda sound that would great for slap style fusion and for supportive rock and jazz sounds.

The best thing I can suggest is look for a music store near you that has basses with different preamps.

If you like different music and genres, I'll suggest looking at 4 band EQ preamps for versatility.

I've played the Mike Pope Flex Core pre. Very flexible in tone shaping, but also pricey!
I've also tried an Aguilar OBP-3, and love the EQ but didn't care for the mid selector frequency.

I ended up with an Audere pro Z 4 band for my Warwick Corvette $$ 4.

Choosing an internal bass preamp it can be harder. There´s some good choices likes the Aguilar OBP-3, Noll, Bartolini NTBC, Glockenklang,... but his sound it deppends of some factors like woods, pickups, your fingers and more.

I get a Glockenklang in my Sandberg Ken Taylor 5 strings and was so clear. I like too the Bartolini BTBC that it colors a bit my sound but it´s great for me too.
