Preamp pedal decisions - Subway+/Starlifter/Messenger

I’m looking to add a new preamp pedal for recording. I have a Olympic MkIIIS and a Meatsmoke, so I have that “tube” vibe covered, so I’m looking at add a more modern, solid state sound to the board. I have it narrowed down (I think) to the Mesa Boogie Subway+, Nordstrand Starlifter or the Broughton Messenger (I plan on picking up the Broughton Resonate Filter whenever I can). I’ve read the hundreds of posts that discuss the possible pedals, but I’m wondering if anyone has any direct comparison experience between these three. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I've used all 3 of those Modern Preamps and found that the Messenger was by far the better choice with my Khan Tube DI. The ability ot offers to sculpt my tone is unlike any preamp I've used. The Khan is an amazing tube DI also and they pair great together. The best tone I've had with this setup.

Thank you for the insight - and for your prior posts that were always informative. It seems the newer Messengers have fewer options than the model you have - that may not be a concern since I am looking to pick up the Resonate Filter that seems to cover some of that ground. Great board - I picked up the Cali76 as well, and it’s phenomenal. Thanks again.
