Preamp, pickups.

I am ordering a Peavey Cirrus BXP tomorrow. I will leave in the stock parts for now, but eventually want to upgrade the pickups and preamp to something that is really good for slap bass. i was thinking ken smith pickups, but would they fit? any suggestions? i am a slap and 2 hand tap fan. and solo bass playing.

Posting the dimensions of the pickups would help, so people can make suggestions as to what might fit.
Bartolini have a great .pdf on their site of a huge range of pickup dimensions and shapes that they make their pickups in, but also what they're called, eg EMG40, or P4.

No idea what to suggest as replacements, can only offer this 'technical' info.

Hi, the peavey pickup are really good but the preamp is really boomy. I suggest that you change the preamp first. Why don't you look at something very transparent like an audere visit audere audio website. If you want something a little more in your face try the aggie obp-3. than after decide if you atill want to change the pickup....
