Preamp question for Project

Hey guys

Inherited a project bass if we could say. 32" neckthrough, nice woods, it is now routed for two MM style EMG's. I was wondering what kind of preamp you would recommend. It presently has 3 pots but could always be modded.

On a side note, are Mid knobs a must with these types of pickups.

Thanks and stay safe

Hi there Bob,

I've got the EMG BQC system which is a 4 knob setup, two of which are stacked. I love the sound and because I hooked them up to EMG pickups the installation was very easy and solderless. What I like about the setup is that it also has a mid sweep (besides a stacked bass and treble knob), and the range of the sweep is configurable using switches on the module. I'm a set-and-forget type of guy so I haven't really fiddled with the switches, but I love the sounds I'm getting.

The only thing I really didn't like about the EMG BQC are the knobs that come with the preamp, they're flimsy and plastic and don't feel high-quality. I happened to have a bunch of metal dome knobs lying around from other projects that happened to fit...very happy with the end result!
