Preamp question

So ive never actually used these before. Just pedals in the past. I have a fender rumble 500 amp. Do i basically just run the bass into the preamp, then that into the amp? Simple as that?

Also i have a question about the sansamp tech21 geddy lee model. I read that it has 2 outputs and can only work with 2 amps. So is it literally just plugging it into say 2 rumble 500s like i have? Confusing.

The GED-2112 is a two channel preamp that has a Deep channel and a Drive channel that can be ran into two separate amps. I use mine with a stereo power amp, and I run the power amp into 2 separate speaker cabinets.

There's also an internal jumper mod that combines the GED's channels so it can be ran into a single amp. Some folks use a mixer to combine the channels, and IIRC there's another way to combine the channels.

I've read a lot of great reviews on Tech 21's new YYZ pedal, which may be a better option for you. There's a TBer who owns both the GED-2112 and the YYZ pedal, and he prefers the pedal because it's an easier path towards a Geddy-Type tone.

A couple of posters have hinted at this, but nobody has said it explicitly (apologies if I am stating the obvious):

Your Fender Rumble 500 already has a preamp, so you do not need to buy an additional preamp. (But you can if you want to :))

That said, is there a specific preamp you are looking at?
