Preamp question

If you want to buy something that does it then there are plenty options. There's the ART mic preamp or the Behringer copy of it. I have both the Behringer Mic100 and 200 and they're both great. There's also the Rolls MP13.
If you're trying to do it without gear then your options are more limited. Does the Trace have a headphones out? Sometimes they can be set pretty hot. Or, in some cases it's possible to mod (or get a proper adult to mod) a power amp so that it needs less input tp hit full output. Some amps have this as an easily accessible external switch, sometimes an internal jumper, sometimes it requires a proper mod to the circuit.

Which era AH300 is it, Series 6 or SMC? On both, there should be a line out available to feed the XLS. In addition, the XLS's input sensitivity can be set to .7 volts if the signal off that output is too weak.
You should play your bass in the Trace "input" socket", then go from the Trace "send" socket to the Crown "return" socket (powerin' both amps btw)
Other than that, nuthin' else I really think

The Crown XLS1002 the OP is referring to is a power amp, it doesn't have an effects loop.
