Preamp users...what do you use your amp for?

I have been into preamp pedals as of late.
Sometimes i run my Basswitch iq di into the effects return of my Aguilar Ag700 ,which bypasses the aggies pre amp. That gives me really nice clean eq section to work with. Other times i use an Sadowsky out board pre into the input of the aggie. Or a Aguilar db924 pre, while boosring the mids. They all have diffrent colors i feel.
I use passive basses most times but, my Carvin has the Sadowsky onboard thats killer. When i use that bass i dont bother with my pedal pre, unless i want to change the tone while running it passive.

I have a little different setup. I use an ampeg PF-500.
Electric bass goes into the front panel. There is an AB box in between the ampegs preamp out and power amp in(not the same as the effect loop). One side of the AB box allows that line to basically just be a jumper, and the other side has a Fishman Platinum Pro connected is used for my NS Design Upright Bass.

This allows me to basically have two separate preamps feeding the power amp that is built in to the head. It works very well as a doubling rig and gives me dedicated EQ for each instrument without having to compromise one or the other.
Can you post a pic of this ingenious doubling solution?

It has changed quite a bit since that post, and I no longer have the Ampeg. I now use a Mesa D800 which works even better than the old setup with all of the extra cables and switches.

So now it's Electric Bass into the from input of the Mesa and EUB into whatever preamp is being used then into the Aux in on the Mesa. Very little switching or extra cables.
