Precision Bass Ukulele War

I was checking out Fender's website and discovered that they are going to dip their toes into the world of ukulele basses with their latest installment to the Fullerton Series; The Precision Bass Ukulele.

I'm not a ukulele player, but I've messed around with Fullertons in my local music store and I find that they feel good to play and sound nice. Their weird look is oddly enticing, just begging you to play it. I am excited for these bass ukuleles to become available so that I may try it out sometime.
However, a few weeks later, I noticed while checking Kala's website that they added a new "Solid Body" category under the U-bass tab. I clicked on it and discovered these

As someone who loves short scale basses and precision basses, I'm not sure if I have ever wanted to play a bass more than this one. Have you ever even heard of a bass ukulele with passive magnetic pickups? Because I sure haven't! This is probably the most hardcore definition of "Precision Bass Ukulele" possible. I think Kala may have outclassed Fender here.
Still, I am excited for both of these to come out. Video reviews and in-store demos await! What do you guys think about all this?

20.47" scale, which is fully in ukulele bass territory
(Kala U-Bass acoustic/electric models vary between 20", 20.375", 20.8125" or 20.875").
They worked thanks to their special string set, the UBS162 by Dogal, which are steel-core nickel roundwounds with extra-flexible braided/stranded/rope-cores.

Though shorter than the Glen Burton GBMB-NT / Glarry GW101 / Rocktile TB-4 or other ca25" scale instruments, the upcoming Kala Solid-Body U-Bass
Solid Body U•BASS® – Kala Brand Music Co.™
is really a 7/8 guitar-scale electric bass like the Tiny Boy or the Carryon by Blackstar at 23.5" scale, which allows it to use solid-core strings (perhaps ones with thin, still relatively flexible cores, like the Dogal RW160TB or the JC106TB). I am pretty curious about their string complement, actually.

The folks at Kala told me that a fretless version of the 4-String Solid Body is in the works and should be available in late October. They're also working on a flatwound string set for the basses. BTW they are 23.5" scale length, which puts them closer to guitar scale than ukulele scale.

Here's a hands-on review of the little Kala -
