Precision Bass Wiring Diagram

I'm getting ready to put together a new wiring harness for my P Bass, and after looking at a number of wiring diagrams on the internet, I've noticed that some of them show the capacitor attached only to the tone pot ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) and others show the capacitor soldered between the tone pot and the volume pot ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed])

I was wondering if anyone knew what difference these two approaches might make?

Right now, I'm leaning toward attaching the cap to the tone pot alone, as I think thats how the bass came from Fender, but if there is a good reason to try the other way, i'd be open to it.
 
I have only done it the first way and have had great results. The second one looks interesting. Perhaps the extra connection to the volume pot is to insure that all the components are grounded together. Then again the wire they show attaching the two pots should do the job as well. I would go with the first diagram and make sure the control cavity is properly shielded.
 
The Guitar Nucleus diagram just provides a different path to ground for one of the cap's legs. Follow both diagrams and the one cap leg leads to ground in each.
The Seymour Duncan wiring diagram is similar to [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]'s.

I did notice, though, that Guitar Nucleus has the cap attached to a different terminal of the tone pot than SD and Fender. I imagine that itself would alter the sound.

edit: It may not actually affect the sound. Since the tone pot is basically a resistor, direction of the signal shouldn't matter, because in either case the cap is on the output of the tone pot.
