Precision or Jazz?

If you are the kind og guy who wloves to change the sound of your bass every day....... go for the Jazz...... I voted for the P-bass

I voted J. I've played on Ps before and liked them, but I like to get more than one type of sound out of a single bass. Thus, I voted Jazz.

Although I have been thinking about getting an MIM P after I get my next bass (a GT7 or Cirrus 6) .

If the poll had offered "both" as a choice, I would have voted for that.

A P bass makes some sounds that you can't get out of a Jazz. A Jazz makes a bunch of sounds you can't get out of a P. You really need both to cover all the bases (no pun intended).

2 of my 3 basses are J style. There are lots of times I wish I had a P style pickup. Unfortunately my 3rd bass doesn't have one either.

And then there's the "other" category... but that's a topic for a different poll.

They both have their own Attributes and are better suited to different styles and sounds. I currently have a MIM J bass as well as a MIJ Jazz Special fretless. The special has a J-neck a P-body (non off-set waist) and PJ pups. I am in the market for a P-bass now. It's hard to pick a fave. My first 2 basses were P copies and I wanted a J. Now I have a J and I want a P (I know enough to keep the J though!)

BTW I prefer the J-neck shape and would like to put a J neck on a P-bass.
