Hello TB Spiros seem to have gone up to about $200 everywhere but stringemporium.com where the price is still 160ish. Just a heads up.
Na, they went up too... http://www.lemurmusic.com/Spirocore-Bass-Medium-Orchestra-Tuning/products/98/
That's the main reason why I stopped using them. The price has nearly doubled since I first used them. I bought my first set of Spiros in 2001 and I believe they were $110. Same with the Thomastik mandolin strings. Those were $17 in 1997. Now they're over $40.
Speaking of spiros, instead of starting a new thread, I'll ask here. My bow is a bit dull (mellow) sounding. I am currently using Preludes. Would spiro weichs help make it sound a bit more open?
All I can say is this: about 7 years I abandoned spiros in search of the perfect string and I have finally found it- spiros. The morral of the story is concentrate on your technique. That's just my 1.5 cents.
