Primary Blue

Me too. Interestingly, when me and my brother were little tykes, I always got blue toys and he always got red, so I always associated red with my brother for some reason. Now I have a red bass, but I had a hard time getting used to it because I always thought of red as my "opposite." (There's a little psych problem for you Matt O).

Never asked him if he actually liked red or if he just got shafted being the younger one.

<sigh> Am I gonna have to lease you my "Projekt Blue" bass? :D

I apologize for my approach, I said that to get those that were taught traditional color theory to take a look at what I was saying by restated another old (false, to me) paradigm: In the light spectrum Red, Green and Blue are primary.

Televisions and video monitors have already been adding other "primary" colors because they can't reproduce all the perceivable colors. I would ask that we consider the question: "Why would more "primary" colors be be needed if the triadic light primaries were already correct?"

I have a different theory and I will risk ridicule: The triadic pigment and triadic light spectrum are actually one and the same; Yellow, Cyan and Magenta. Time will tell, just remember years from now when you are on Cash Cab that you heard it on TalkBass.

More importantly than any color theories, I like blue.

No need for apologies, its an interesting conversation, and interesting theory as well.

Midnight blue Jazz Plus 5'r on Reverb - (no affiliation) looks to be the same blue as on my Squier Blue J - I have a 4 string Jazz Plus in Midnight Wine and these are very nice instruments, top of Fenders line in the early 90's with 22 frets and Kubicki pre-amps.

I'm not much into a blue bass, but I did like this one I had for a while.

It's funny, I'm not generally drawn to blue either and got my Squier Blue J for cheap on craigslist for my niece. Then I learned she was not growing any taller, and was already playing a short-scale Fender Bronco so I ended up keeping it and doing upgrades. The only original things on it now are the body, neck and strap pegs and I actually have grown to like its 'blueness'. (kinda blue - kinda cool)
