Seeing primus in the 90’s was a life changing experience. I knew enough to stay out of the hurricane like pit so I could actually listen and watch Les play.

Light strings, keep a tight wrist and a loose thumb. Seriously, pretend your thumb is dead and it will bounce off the strings. I've covered a few Primus songs and they can be tough because there is a lot going on. He does a lot of chord strums. We are working on Damn blue collared tweekers for our next show (hopefully). Luckily the singing parts aren't as tough but even that is whole nother bowl of wax.

I heard this tip years ago from this killer player that actually knew Les Claypool personally and was in the Cheezy home videos movie. He said that it's Les Clypool's biggest secret. The looser your thumb, the easier it will bounce off the string. Now Victor Wooten's double thumb technique is the opposite of this but Les doesn't use that technique.

Mine too and we figuered it would be the best to cover although I used to cover American life, and John the fisherman back in the late 90's. Tweekers sill be one of those songs where once we play it people will be like "wow I haven't heard that song in a while!" Plus not many people cover Primus so I'm looking forward to it.
