Since I can't get the member's search function to work, I figured this was the next step...

I'm a decent bass player, but I would like to improve my playing in several areas.

I'm 40, in a couple of bands, and have played bass for over 10 years, but more seriously in the last 5 or so. It's been a long time since I read music, so I need someone who can help me with that, along with theory, improving my technique, etc.

I'm very serious about improving, and would be a dedicated student. I would prefer to find someone in the Fort Worth, TX area, but for the right teacher, I'm willing to travel.

Please let me know here or in a PM if you know of someone who's a good fit. Please, no guitar teachers who also teach bass, I have gone down that path twice now, and it's not what I'm looking for. I want someone who's just as passionate about bass as I am.

Thanks!

If you do not get any hits here I'd call the music department at TCU, SMU, UT Arlington and the community colleges in the area and see what they have to say. I bet some of the instructors give private lessons or know of a student that would be qualified. As you mentioned I've not had much luck with music store back room instructors. They know how to play but most have no clue how to teach. The university instructors will hopefully understand your type of music.

Good luck.
