Problem w/ Guitar Center Extended Guitar warranty

I don't know what the contract says, but if you call customer service they should do one of two things: Apply the warranty to the new guitar or refund the money for the extended warranty.

A smart company that wants to keep a customer happy would do this. Someone should be able to make this happen. If not, you haven't gotten to the right person. Keep going up the ladder.

Thanks for all the respnses. I live in Indiana. The extended warranty says that they will only replace the guitar one time under the extended warranty. But the extended warranty was not yet in effect. I have been corresponding with Guitar Center.

I'm not sure who you've been in touch with at Guitar Center, but I'd like to help. My name is Jeremy and I run Customer Service for Guitar Center, retail. Please email me at [email protected] or call me at 818.735.8800 ext 2115 and I'll gladly do whatever I can to help.

You should not have had the trouble you've been put through. On behalf of Guitar Center, I'm sorry. If, during the period of the extended coverage, manufacturer warranty is used – the extended pro coverage remains intact from the date of the initial purchase. If your guitar was replaced by Mitchell, we just need to inform NEW (the warranty company) of the new serial number to cover.

I look forward to helping if you'll let me.

W5 or 20/20 did a show on Extended Warranties a while back...they found them to be useless, in most cases when the people who got them went to use them...they got the runaround anyways, so just the hassle of getting all stressed about it alone, makes it not worth it.

The ever classic "oh well they don't make that model anymore, so we'll have to downgrade you to this el-pieco-crapo in the back room that's been collecting dust for a year and a half"

...or they repair it, only to have the repair fail a month later, and at that point, they're off the hook.

Well played. It will be interesting how many of the GC bashers will acknowledge this obviously unquestionable effort to remedy this situation; I’m guessing very few.
It’s far easier to be a bandwagon “hater” than to be an objective “thinker”.

On a side note, extended warranties are ripoffs anyway.

Fixed.

They aren’t a “ripoff”, they are a method of generating revenue; they aren’t forced at point of sale, they are an optional coverage offered, albeit weighted towards the retailer as far as fiscal exposure.
Those that have benefited from such coverage come out ahead, by most definitions a “ripoff” is essentially “theft”.
