problem with 67 Epiphone Rivoli

Hi everyone,

would like to ask the experts here a question, im quite annoyed by this problem i have.

i own two basses, one is a vintage 67 epiphone rivoli, the other is a reissue, i changed the pickup of the reissue to a dimarzio model one, it is split, i just need to pull the volume switch and it is on single mode.
now to the problem, recently i realized that the vintage one isn't sounding normal, lost a lot of its output, does not sound like a humbucker to me, there is a little hum...

i took the reissue and put it on single mode, it sound exactly like the vintage one.

the point is, i fear the humbucker on the vintage one is messed up and for some reason not functioning properly...

can anyone give me a tip? am i way off here?

The switch cuts lows, not highs. That, coupled with your description of how it sounds more like the DiMarzio in single coil mode makes me suspect the switch...like it's stuck in low-cut mode. I'm just guessing.

If the pickup was faulty it probably wouldn't work at all unless something strange has happened.

when i said it cuts the highs imeant that when u push in the switch, u get a real low muddy tone... nevermind... :-)
