problem with morley wah

guys!
My morley pba2 dual bass wah has worked excellent with my previous bass(custom music man-a-like,basslines pickup and electronics),whereas with my NEW bass(custom woodguerilla fretless, sbs pickup, also active) I'm getting a hard clipping sound(annying distortion like) in the upper register(d and g strings)
now,I'm guessing it's coming from the bass, since I am an agressive player, and I do hit strings very hard(never slap, though),but,is it possible something could be wrong with morley?
should I have it checked by someone?
i tried virually everything, lowering the pickup, turning the volume pot on the bass a bit,etc..
still there.
now, lowering the volume pot helped a bit,but it influenced greatly on my sound, which I would love to avoid..
oh,and I keep the volume pot on Morley on 1 o'clock, most of the time
is it possible that my bass preamp is way too loud, although I never expirienced such a problem(also in woodguerilla shop, they swear never to had such a problem as well),or there's def. something wrong with Morley? Never had a wah gone bad,so I'm not sure how it would sound..
any thoughts would be more then welcome!
