Problem with my pre-amp/pick ups

I'm not sure if this is the right forum. Mods, move if you think it is.

Anyway, my J-bass is acting funny. Whenever I move my pan knob towards the neck pick up (or even in the center), there's a HUGE cut in volume. The bridge pick up is fine. I figure some wiring may be loose, although I haven't really had this problem until today (or at least, I noticed it today).

What should I do or what should I look for?

Thanks,
-Jaymes

It just start started happening. I don't do any kind of tinkering. Mostly because I don't have a lot of knowledge about that kind of stuff.

But, I figure it's not too harder, I could fix this, then put in a push/pull pot to switch between active and passive.

Also, I should mention that when I turn the knob, it crackle just a tiny bit before it clicks in the middle.
