Problem with Precision 5 pickup

The thing is in order to get an even volume response from the treble coil and low coil, i got to place the low coil closer to the strings and the treble coil more away. The thing is when i play the higher frets of the lower strings they hit the poles (or th pickup if i cover the poles). And if i make a vibrato or bend the sound increases dramatically (like there is an disaligment there and when the string is over the pole in regains volume).
This causes to getting to place the low coil down and lose too much output and the treble coil that is much more down overpowers the other, creating an inbalance. It seems like the solution is to bury the treble coil into the body and lose 80 percent of the mic power. So i dont know if the pickup is bad from factory or the bass sounds way more in the treble side, so im considering replace the pickup for a closed one without poles, just a bar inside and see if that problem goes away, any suggestions?

I’m thinking you have a bad pickup from the factory.

Several years ago, I had a Fender P5 and both the OEM pups as well as the replacement Nordstrand pups showed no characteristics as you are seeing with the pups in question.
And neither did a previous Lull P5 nor my current Lull P5.
A long shot, but are your strings level with your fingerboard? Had to ask….
Open-pole P5 pups shouldn’t exhibit those issues you speak of. Nothing wrong with going to closed-top pups, though.
