Problem with signature basses

I own a Geddy Lee because I am a Rush fan and Geddy is my primary influence. That said, that's not the only reason.

I have a Geddy Lee model because:

1. Neck is perfect for me. Some complain how it's too thin but it's perfect for me. Heck I had picked one up before I even knew who Geddy Lee was and the neck felt amazing for my then-11 year old hands.

2. I love the growl it gives with the 70s spacing pickups. I didn't know that back then but it sounded amazing with either pickup soloed and it sounded monstrous with both. I knew I had to have it someday.

3. Looks cool as s**t. What can I say? Looks almost tuxedo-like.

In theory I agree with the OP but ideals and reality can be different. I don't really get into the idea of of playing a particular players signature bass just because it has their name on it but I am totally willing to play signature models that are well put together instruments. One of my favorite basses was a Dean Eric Bass signature Hillsboro. When I bought it I had no clue who Eric Bass was and had never listened to Shinedown. I bought it because it was well over half price on Amazon and at the time I was trying to start a bass shop.I was just planning on selling it but when the bass arrived I fell in love with it. I did eventually sell it but I still mildly regret that choice.
I would love to get my hands on a Warwick P-Nut signature. I don't know poopie about P-nut and am not a 311 fan but Warwick makes a really sweet bass with his name on it.
