Problem with Spector NS Dimension 5

Sell it and get a Fender. Reliable and modifiable. Spector went downhill since they were sold. They use chambered bodies now too which sound like crap.

I respectfully disagree that Spector has gone downhill under Korg's ownership. But I'm interested to hear what you've seen or experienced with Korg/Spector basses that makes you feel this way.

My sample size is ultra limited, but I own two Spector Euros. I bought my Spector NS4CRFM in late 2001, back when Stuart Spector was still running the company, and I bought my Korg-Era Spector Euro 6LT in June of 2001.

The workmanship on both of my Euros is stellar. My Euro 6LT does have the weight relieved chambered body wings, and it's tone is amazing. It also balances perfectly on a strap.

IMHO Korg has improved Spector's line of instruments since taking over the company.

But the small number in a bass seem to cause you consternation, yet items with far, far more do not, especially some like a car that might kill you if they play up. Pointing it out for some perspective.

Still not seeing proof a joint is the issue here either.

If there was a solder point in my car that required repair, I wouldn't be the one fixing it. That's the difference.

My 50 cents of opinion: It's a defective preamp.

Why am I saying this? Potentiometers. It's not wiring, battery or whatever, just a bad potentiometer. I've been thru this kind of issue before.

Fixable? Yes, sure... But since your instrument is covered by warranty, I suggest you to return it and avoid the hassles.

I was just talking about installing those pickups. As in as a mod.

Out of my curiosity, does anyone know what's the string spacing of that bass?

So it's not the battery, I'm suspect it's something in the preamp/PUPs warming up and failing. I'd do a warranty return/repair on it if it was mine.
