Problem with Villex tone control

My first set of Villex pickups is 6yrs old and still functioning perfectly (mid-pot as well), and with all sets I have used so far, I never had any issues. And I have had a bad pot so far (not excluding the possibility though)
If the pickup is functioning properly (according to Mr Villex), I see no other reason than either a bad pot, or a mistreated pot (overheated or bad solder)

I'd like to ask something more (as a VERY demanding customer),
I only find it reasonable that, if the pickup works (based on the testimony of the TESTED pickup in the hands of Mr Villex), then it's MOST proper that the problem lies elsewhere (as stated by several other notable members in the thread; 6yrs is a LONG time IMHO).
And to be honest, I never had any problems dealing with Mr Villex, even when I asked for a very complicated wiring scheme, which was not working. He tested the pickups and once he said that they worked fine, the problem proved to be a mistake made by a bad/wrong solder.

Joe Zon already replaced the pot. That did not solve the problem.
I have not had it for 6 years. I got the bass from Joe Zon I think in 2008, possibly 2007.

buddy [sorry on resurrecting an old thread], but it looks to me - you bought a faulty, used product, somebody was using for 3 or 4 years. then you continued using it for 2 or 3 years. and THEN you start flaming the manufacturer of a component built in that product.
have it ever occurred to you to ask for a refund your 'friend' who sold you the faulty product? how do you know if said product was not misused and abused before you. maybe somebody plugged it to an AC socket!? or dropped it a couple of times.
i really do not see how mr. villex has any obligation to you. you buy used - you make your claim to the seller. end of story.

No Gricko, I ordered a custom bass from Joe Zon and told him that I wanted to put a villex pickup in it. I ordered the pickup from Villex and had it sent to Joe Zon for installation.
So anyway, Villex was not willing to replace it so I paid him to make another one. It took a few weeks for me to come up with the money to pay for it. William said he would send me both the old and new pickup back. I made the payment and waited. Weeks later I contacted William to find out what the status was. He said that he was waiting for me to provide the dimensions. I thought it was odd that he didn't just measure the old one, but contacted Joe to get the dimensions (the bass is at Joe's shop). I emailed the dimensions to William and waited.
A couple of weeks later I contacted William to find out what the status was. He said taht he was still waiting for me to provide the dimensions. I sent them again and waited. Eventually he sent the new pickup to Joe Zon, (but not the old one). Joe said that the pickup was too small for the cavity. I asked Joe to send it back and contacted William and let him know about the problem. At that time, I asked him if he could just measure the old one and remake it. William informed me that he sold the old pickup and claimed that it was working fine.
A day or two later I told him to not bother with the new pickup and to refund my money which he did.
Those are the facts. I expect the new owner of my old pickup will eventually discover that he has purchased a defective product but whatever. Maybe both Joe and I are wrong.
