Problem with volume control

Hey everyone,

My Washburn Force 4 ABT series bass that I purchased a little over a year ago developed a problem with the volume control. The problem is that I can no longer adjust the volume and it is simply at one fixed position. When I twist the volume nob I notice that I can now twist it further to the left and to the right than I used to ever be able to and when I do it makes a grindy noise.

I haven't taken it apart to investigate yet and would rather not unless it is an easy fix. What do you think the culprit is here and how much would it be to fix.

Tried to call Washburn just now but the line was busy and I am at the University so I don't have a lot of time to wait for them...but I suspect they wouldn't cover it anyway since it says on their website that controls are only covered for a year...:scowl:

Thanks in advance!

Replace the volume pot. They're cheap, and if you're handy with a soldering iron, not real hard to replace. Shouldn't cost you too much. Take your digital camera(if you have one) and snap a clear pic of the electronics cavity. Use that as a guide to wire in the new pot. Or, take it to a tech. Shouldn't cost you too much.
