Producing Young The Giant

Hey Justin, I'm a huge fan of all of your work and was estatic when i heard you'd produce YTG's new record. Mind Over Matter is AMAZING and is a staple in my car. I was wondering if you could give insight in the ways you recorded the bass for that record (which basses were used, amps, pedal and the like) as there are some pretty cool tones. Also, how was working with Payam? did you bounce ideas off eachother or did you let him do his own thing? I'm a big fan of his as well.

Thanks!

Thank you very much!

We mostly used Payam's Pbass and G&L bass with J pickups. But lots of P Bass. I used my B15's, SVT's, and Fender Bassman. Palmer and Reddi DI's. Payam was cool. As a producer, I was always making suggestions, yes. But I never had to all-out "re-write" any of his lines. He came fairly ready-made. I just made tweaks here and there.

J
