I've been played while playing Squire basses over the years, so I'm one! But I know what you mean. Does Mikey Way of My Chemical Romance play one?

You guys have gotten squire gems. Every one I've played was noisy and sounded cheesy.
I don't own a Squire but I have used a MIM fender 5 string jazz on gigs. Nobody knew the difference or cared and it rocked.
there we go - fact backed up with evidence vs anecdotal malarkey....

tons of people will repeat what they were told or what they want to believe - all Squiers are _______ Traynors can't ______
look if a fellow can play a VM Squier Jag, STOCK on Leno - most folks on here can get through their bar gig just fine on a Squier...
So Squiers are higher quality than I thought. And maybe Fenders are not as nice as I thought?
Fenders are fine. Many people find fault where others don't. Take setup for example. It's not permanent but most act like it is.
If it sounds good and plays well, it is good. Almost too simple.
I think this is exactly the point about Squiers. I've tried a lot of them and I know just what Xander8280 is talking about. You don't don't even plug it in and you can immediately hear that clanky cheesy give away sound that tells you this bass isn't going to be the one. But honest to God, every now and then you happen on a "keeper" that simply blows everything out of the water. Sure it may need a setup or new strings or something but you can tell just from how it feels in your hands that this bass is ready to blow all other basses away no matter what is on the headstock. Sure it's luck. So the more you try the better your chances. I know what you're thinking. "Does the peghead have Fender or only Squier?" Well, to tell you the truth, with all the exciting playing I kind of lost track myself. But being as it has an excellent setup, by one of the most talented luthiers in the world, and could blow your head clean off your stack, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
Mod Allmighty, are you out there? It's me, Wade...

Help me Obi Mod Kenobi, you're my only hope.
Maybe my Squiers just suck. A lot of the people responding play the VM and CV models. Those always seemed like a good deal to me. Maybe I should buy one?

Oh geeze. You ever watch one of those Nature things on PBS about the Serengeti Plain and you get that shot of the gazelle starting to limp?....
