Professionals using a Squier

The longer I've played, the less I pay attention to the brand name on the headstock. You can find stinkers in the high priced line, as well as you can find gems in the budget line.

I find the Squier name just as iconic as Fender. We really only buy the more expensive ones to fit in with that perception of quality and yes sometimes the more expensive ones are amazing. I have an Am Pro II Precision which is quality but also a MIM precision that is right up there with the AVRIs.

I just bought a Squier classic vibe 70s because I didn't want to spend the extra money on the Geddy Lee Jazz. I find the Squier has the yellow vintage neck color (which I like more than the plain maple color on the Ged) and the tuners I can upgrade with hipshot. I don't really care for signature basses because then you're standing up there with a bass with someone elses name on it. As much as I respect and revere famous musicians, I also want to carve my own path.

This. I had a a US Ged at one point but at 10lbs it was just too heavy for me and the biggest issue was the old school truss rod adjuster at the body. The Squier is only 8lbs, lighter than the MIM Geddy even and truss rod at the headstock.

I'd put my 50's SC Precision Up against anything. Got it used ( very lightly, looked new to me ), at a shop in Indiana with a new tweed Jazz bass case just under $200.00
