I took about a year off from playing in a band after the death of our drummer last year. In the last few months, I have started reaching out to some different musicians about recording some new music that I have written in my spare time. One of them was a drummer that I knew from high school named Joey. He had been familiar with the genre in question for 30+ years, so I was confident that he would be able to help flesh out some of material into a great demo. Yesterday I started the process of reaching out and striking up the conversations that you need to have in order to break the ice and get the ball rolling. Today I found out that he died in his sleep last night. I'm just.... deflated.
